I was putting off writing a blog because I figured it is was a lot of work and it would consume too much of my time and energy. But now here I am, writing this blog post as a way to unclutter my mind. I spent most of the day figuring out solutions to JavaScript algorithms and now my brain is too noisy to do anything; this just with completing just two. I began my journey in coding earlier this year, started off with watching tutorials and as I started feeling it was not getting me anywhere began looking for other sources of learning so I could hone these new skills through practice.

I began following the FreeCodeCamp(FCC) curriculum recently where I am at ‘Basic Algorithms’ on the FCC map now and boy is it hard! I have done practice exercises for JavaScript basics on Udacity and another learning site before starting FCC and all the practice questions seem easy which got me thinking that it was silly of me to think I would have a hard time learning it. Now I have realized there is much more to JavaScript than those exercises.

Because I was stuck and feeling frustrated at FCC, I decided to distract myself with easier JavaScript exercises so I could get some positive reinforcement to move forward. I found a shared link to CodeFights yesterday in the FCC Earth Facebook group, and it looked intriguing. The website is designed like a fun game and has different types of ‘fights’ to compete in, like arcade, head on head, weekly challenges, and tournament. It also has a section to practice for interviews. I like games, though I am not a hardcore gamer, and the arcade challenges are sure keeping me motivated which in turn motivates me to go back to the FCC map even if I am doing just one. Marching on ahead…!
